WaqfChain's binding framework for Shariah compliance — grounded in AAOIFI Standard No. 60, the four madhāhib, and classical fiqh al-awqaf.
This Shariah Policy establishes the binding framework that governs every aspect of WaqfChain to ensure full compliance with Islamic law (fiqh al-awqaf), AAOIFI Shari'ah Standard No. 60 (Waqf), Governance Standard GS 13, and the classical rulings of the four madhāhib (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali). The waqf corpus (aṣl al-waqf) is sacred and must remain perpetually inalienable.
Every waqf proposal follows the exact multi-tiered flow defined in the WaqfChain Whitepaper Section 13:
Amanah & Verification Secretariat
Initial KYC/AML review and documentation check
Majlis al-A'immah — Council of Imams
Fiqh screening and Islamic intent verification
Ahl al-Khibrah — Council of Experts
Technical, legal, and financial due diligence
Independent Shariah Supervisory Board
Final binding ruling — minimum 3 prominent scholars (Hay'ah Shar'iyyah Mustaqillah)
Mutawalli / Nazir Appointment
On-ground trustee selection and contract signing
Community Shūrā
Optional community consultation and feedback period
Corpus Lock — Ḥabs al-Aṣl
Permanent blockchain lock of the waqf corpus — irreversible
The Independent Shariah Supervisory Board holds ultimate authority on all Shariah matters and may issue fatwas or reject proposals at any stage.
All waqf donations on WaqfChain are zakat-eligible as sadaqah jariyah, provided the donor's intention (niyyah) is pure. Each donation generates a perpetual record on the blockchain, serving as immutable proof of charitable intention.
Any breach of this policy results in immediate project suspension and referral to the Shariah Board. The Board's decisions are final and binding on all parties. Severe breaches may result in permanent platform exclusion and public disclosure.
